A new neighbour moved into the duplex next door (also a co-worker and his family) and we were sharing a few tips that we've picked up since we got here, and he said "you really seem like you've got the hang of things here." ...it surprised me, because we've only been here 3 months, but I suppose we do know a heck of a lot more than when we first got here. It feels more comfortable know, and I feel like I have a better grasp on where to get things, who to call if something goes wrong, etc. but I don't know if I feel like I'm not new to the whole experience just yet. I'm still learning things every day, but it definitely helps to share some of the things we've learned with people who just got here - being a small group we need to stick together and help each other out!
Aside from that, our weekend was fairly ho-hum. Friday we went next door and hung out with the neighbours for a while. Much needed after a long couple of weeks. We laughed because once we confirmed we were going next door, we both went and got into our comfy pants and sweatshirts and slippers before leaving. If we were getting ready to go out while at home, there would have been putting on the glitz with heels, makeup, dresses, ties, blazers, dress shoes, shaving, etc. My how the times have changed!
We both went to work on Saturday and I even went yesterday as well. Today's actually a holiday, but we're both working as though it was normal. I suppose the airport doesn't really observe holidays, and I've got a project to work on. Funny to think that the next long weekend is going to be Christmas!! It's getting close!
Back to my original thought about getting the hang of life up here - I suppose in a sense it's true since not every day is a new adventure like it was in the beginning, and we're settling into a day to day routine. It's actually a good thing because then it can feel more like home vs. being away for a vacation. Nothing wrong with getting comfortable.
