Cakes!

Happy Monday! I can't believe that 3 weeks from today, we will be on a plane and heading off on our adventure. Time is certainly flying by!

Jeff's wonderful family threw us a "going away but coming back" party yesterday, and we had a lovely time surrounded by our loved ones. The weather was beautiful, the bbq was kept busy and the wine was flowing. I love days like yesterday - just relaxing with family and friends while loving life.

Aside from a dinner of my *favourite* White Hots (so glad to have been introduced to this awesomeness!!), our family friend Natalie made the most amazing cake for us as a delicious dessert. Look at the ridiculously cute penguins!! And the pink wreath!! And the igloo that's actually a mini cake on top!! Agghhh the cuteness is too much to handle!!

We also picked up our wedding video and albums this weekend, and were able to share it with our families. It's only been 4 months since our perfect day, but it was so much fun to see things we missed and to listen to all the speeches again. To top it off, we had a second dessert later on in the night of wedding cake! We had been freezing the top tier of our cake, but with the move we couldn't keep it until our anniversary in February. So what better occasion than to share it with family while watching our wedding video! Aside from the bite I had at the wedding, I didn't get a chance to taste the cake - so I was super excited to discover that it was every bit as delicious as I remember the tasting to be. Here's a reminder of what it looked like on the actual day:
All in all, an emotional weekend but so, so thankful to have such wonderful family around us. They certainly make leaving all the more harder!

  1. Oh my god the wedding cake would be a perfect reason to get the hell out of the Vut for a trip down south in February. Should have waited :)
